Carl Axness

Carl Axness received BS and MS degrees in mathematics and an MS degree in hydrology from NM Tech in Socorro. He received a PhD in civil engineering from the Technical University of Catalonia in Barcelona, Spain. He will retire as a staff member at Sandia National Laboratories at the end of 2011. Carl and his wife, Ana Ferrando, designed a sustainable off-grid passive and PV solar home, built in Rio Rancho in 2007, with an addition that was completed in 2010. The home employs an advanced rainwater collection system that enables a small family to live off-grid without a well. Carl will move to Spain in January, 2012, and is looking to lease his off-grid home.
